Fringe Events happening all around town
Click the "Read More" links below - if you aren't on here and want to submit an article for inclusion, login to the web site to find a list of useful email contacts that will help you get the ball rolling ... The official Hop Festival exists in a relatively narrow area from the top of Preston Street to where the roads join outside the Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre, and from the Post Office in East Street across to Tassells Solicitors in West Street. It runs from 09:30am to 6pm Saturday and 9am to 6pm Sunday. Our insurance, sourced through Towergate Insurance, covers the street entertainment in this area, which means basically the main stages and the wandering troupes of dancers and performers as well as the static features like Punch and Judy. EVERYTHING else is deemed non-official.
Even our sole main sponsor for this year, Shepherd Neame, does not escape this piece of bureaucracy ! This is grossly unfair to the many businesses around town who join in with providing entertainment, and as we wanted to say thanks to all those people who also contribute we came up with the idea of the Fringe. Everything you see on this page (and linked from it) falls under this umbrella, and as you will see there is a lot going on. Just in case you are at all interested, in order to mark "Official" events we use a green hop, Fringe events are marked with a blue one.
This year's 23rd Faversham Hop Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. If things get a bit crowded for you in the town centre, take a walk out to one of the many other venues who've invested in making your day as entertaining and enjoyable as possible. |
